Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept medical insurance?
Urban Healing Arts Studio does not accept any medical insurance billing, including WA State L&I and auto insurance claims.
What time should I arrive?
Plan to arrive 10 minutes early if at all possible.
What if I’m running late?
We understand that traffic might make it hard to arrive on time, and sometimes things come up. We allow enough time between appointments so that if you are just a few minutes late, you may still receive the full time for the treatment that you scheduled. If you are more than a few minutes late we will limit the time of your treatment so that the next client won't be inconvenienced.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel your appointment, please give at least 24 hour's notice. However, we understand that emergency situations may force you to cancel an appointment on the same day. If this happens, please call us and let us know. If you fail to call and don't show up, it can be very inconvenient for us, and we consider this a "No Show". When a no show happens you will be invoiced for the full amount of the scheduled appointment, unless you have already prepaid for the massage. In that case, you will have forfeited your pre-payment.
What should I expect during my first massage?
Plan to arrive 10 minutes early for every massage, but this is more important on your first visit. You will be asked to fill out a health history form, and your massage therapist will take a little extra time with you to discuss what areas you would like to be addressed during your massage, and answer any questions you may have. After the assessment, the massage therapist will leave the room while you undress, get on the massage table, and cover yourself with a sheet and blanket. The massage therapist will not enter the room without knocking first to make sure you are prepared. During your massage you will always be appropriately draped and every effort will be made to keep you warm and comfortable. After your massage the therapist will leave so that you may get dressed. Again, the therapist will knock before entering after you are dressed.
Do I have to undress completely during a massage?
No, you do not. Undress according to your level of comfort. Regardless of how you are dressed, you will always be covered with a sheet and blanket except the area being worked on.
This is my first visit. Will my massage be shortened because of the time taken for paperwork and assessment?
No. As long as you arrive on time we will be able to give you a full-length massage. When you book your appointment, our scheduling system allows extra minutes for assessment. We want to give you a massage that lasts the full time you booked without having to rush you out the door for the next client.
I am pregnant. Can I still book a massage?
We strongly recommend that you check with your doctor before booking a massage. Also, you should avoid having a massage if you are experiencing any of the following:
-
You are having a high risk pregnancy
-
You are at risk of miscarriage
-
You are experiencing nausea or morning sickness
-
You are bleeding`
We also recommend that clients who are pregnant wait until after the first trimester (12 weeks) before receiving a massage
